Los Auténticos project started in December 2007 when multi-instrumentalist / singer El Abuelo and bongo player Koichi met in Havana. They were then joined by maracas player / singer Reinaldo and his guitarist brother Alberto. The group play purely acoustic, soulful, passionate and nostalgic music referred to as 'trovadores' (traditional singer-songwriter style) using authentic Cuban melodies and rhythms and singing about the simple life, love, joy and sadness.
