Already confirmed are Seth Lakeman and Toumani Diabate plus now Kila and 6 Day Riot. Kíla, have been playing together for more than 20 years, creating their own distinctive style of world music, which has won over audiences around the world through their spectacular live performances. Recently nominated for an Oscar for their music on Bruno Coulais animated feature film, 'The Secret of Kells', these folk legends will also be headlining the St Patrick's day celebrations in Trafalgar Square this year. Wychwood festival takes place at the Cheltenham Racecourse from 4th- 6th June.

Chinagrass artist Mamer to return to the UK for 8-date tour in March

Mamer, one of China's most innovative and influential young artists, is to return to the UK together with his band for an 8-date tour, starting on 18 March 2010. Hailing from Qitai County in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Mamer (pronounced "Ma-moor") grew up, like every Kazakh child: on horsebacks and in the strong musical tradition of the Kazakhs his father and relatives taught him to sing folk songs and play the dombra, a lute popular in Central Asia. Former album of the week on the GondwanaSound radio show, the debut album from Tamikrest, Adagh, has a UK release on 1st March. In giving them a four star review Mojo has this to say, "Tamikrest are a 21st century rock group who just happen to live in the middle of the desert. Adagh is the sound of a second generation of Tuareg musicians preparing to go global." Whilst Jungle Drums say, "Beautiful, spacious blues that unites the desert they call home... 'Afro Rock Volume One', is spellbinding, majestic and way out psychedelic in parts. Originally released on Duncan Brooker's Kona record label it became a hugely influential album and has been out of print since 2002. A couple of tracks have resurfaced, namely the fabulous Kyenkyen Bi Adi M'Awu from K.Frimpong & His Cubano Fiestas which cropped up on Soundway's 'Ghana Special' and Onukpa Shawarpo from the Bokoor Band was a favourite on the Ottrabanda release 'Bokoor Beats'. But that still leaves ten tracks that only the die hard collectors will have in their bags....including one that grabbed my attention from Dackin Dakino, 'Yuda'. A diverse mixture of Southern English and Turkish folk songs, self-penned material and driven tunes from English Morris as well as Cypriot traditions give Dogan his own captivating sound. His talent and confidence belie his young age and he makes a storm wherever he goes with his effervescent personality and huge enthusiasm for life and for his music.

The first ten through the doors will receive an African Soul Rebels cd with music form the Kalhari surfers, Grammy Award winning singer Oumou Sangare and The Orchestre Polyrythmo the funkiest, psychedelic band to come out of Benin. Virtuoso kora player Jali Fily has become a favourite on the local folk and world scene - he hails from Ziguinchor in the lush region of Casmance, Southern Senegal.
