Its been an interesting year in which we have reported from major music festivals in the UK, WOMAD, Wychwood, Shepley Spring Festival, Musicport and Glastonbury. News in from Andy Whitehouse and Four Rivers Productions. "As promised we've teamed up with the brilliant people who help out Assist Sheffield, thereby providing support to destitute asylum seekers. The following gigs will see all profits going to Assist and will hopefully raise awareness about the amazing work they do on a shoestring" says Andy. This is a very welcome initiative, which comes on the back of troubling news from our web designer, that his friend along with her two daughters from Zimbabwe have just been arrested in Sheffield and sent to Yarlswood detention centre, pending possible deportation to Zimbabwe.
We can reveal the three artists that will form the 2009 African Soul rebels tour in March 2009 including, allegedly Barack Obama's favourite band form Kenya, Extra golden to open the show. More news to follow but expect the usual venues, Liverpool Philharmonic, London Roundhouse, Manchester Bridgewater Hall and Basingstoke's Anvil.
