Apart from the broadcasts on the first Wednesday of the month when we cover the European Music charts, the GondwanaSound broadcast includes an album of the month. Chosen from the latest releases unless we have picked an album to fit in with a special event.
Special events have included:
1. The original Rock against Racism Vinyl Album selected to celebrate 30 years of musical resistance, love and unity. Played on the 23rd April to celebrate Polystyrene's return to Victoria Park...yayyy
2. Sprinting Gazelle released in 2006 but selected as our album of the week to commmemorate 60 years since El Nakba.
3. The Ballad of John Axon chosen as album of the week on 2nd July to coincide with the exact day 60 years ago that John Axon lost his life, to commemorate the birth of the radio ballads and to coincide with my live studio guest Peter Cox, author of Set into Song
4. Great Moments in Vinyl History compiled by Andy Kershaw played on 30th July after WOMAD.
5. Vision for the Blind who have released Salone Go Bete through the Shain Foundation in the Netherlands to coincide with their first tour.
Other than that they have all been selected from new releases sent to GondwanaTowers for review and airplay.
