Adrian Phillips gets swept up with cumbias and carnival spirits.... Like that other Mexican export the Piñata, Soy Sauce by M.I.S is packed with goodies that are guaranteed to make any party go with a swing. But unlike a papier mache donkey you don’t have to hit it with a big stick to get the good stuff out.
From the carnival horns and pounding beat of the opening Cumbia through to the charming and hysterical version of 'Bittersweet Symphony' by The Verve (sorry The Rolling Stones) this is the most fun you can have without drinking Mexico's other famous export.
The album holds together much better than say work from Fat Boy Slim
Even the ‘bonus’ tracks are worth having with a rocked-up version of the already excellent 'Alocatel' and a neat bit of human beat box in the unofficial loser 'Chiflideur'.
Electronica buddies up with Latin beats, rock and rap in a mix where the emphasis is on enjoyment with a capital N! The album holds together much better than say work from Fat Boy Slim and if you want unbeatable sounds for this summer, if we get one, then look to further.
Mexican Institute of Sound may get abbreviated to M.I.S but this is a certified hit!
