Attracting the attention of Riverboat Records who signed him up for his first international release, "Sigil", which came out in 2006. Melstar finds Gokh-Bi System's “Voice of the Jeli” a very more-ish album, a wonderful accomplishment. “Voice of the Jeli” is soothing yet upbeat, using the gentle rhythmic melodies of the ekonting to give Gokh Bi System their distinctive sound. With plenty of infectious beats and heartfelt lyrics, the album quickly had her reaching for the repeat button.
Jali Fily Cissokho has recently returned from Senegal where, in the oral tradition of the griots, he spent time researching and learning more material from the family archives. Now back in the UK, Fily and his kora, will grace the same stage as Bonga, Chiekha Rimitti, Amadou and Mariam, Seu Jorge and Tinirawen as he brings the griot tradition to the intimacy of London's Momo.
